I want to say no, it's not true metal, but I can't bring myself to do it. Music is music, the genre is the context of the music, and the context of babymetal is pop singing and metal rhythmic guitar work. It's awkward on paper, but somehow, they make it work. I applaud you babymetal, for doing something different then the norm.
